1994 Jeep Wrangler Speedometer Not Working

The speedometer in my 1994 Jeep Wrangler stopped working recently and I’m not sure why. It’s a digital readout and it just stopped displaying anything. The odometer still works, so I know the Jeep isn’t frozen or anything.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas on what could be causing it?

If you have a 1994 Jeep Wrangler, and your speedometer isn’t working, don’t panic! There are a few things that could be causing the issue. First, check to see if the fuse for the speedometer is blown.

If it is, replace it and see if that fixes the problem. If not, then there could be an issue with the speed sensor or the wiring. If you’re not comfortable troubleshooting electrical issues, then take your Jeep to a mechanic and have them diagnose the problem.

Working on the YJ – Part 7 – Speedometer Sensor

Jeep Yj Speed Sensor Location

If your Jeep Yj is having issues with its speed sensor, then you’ll want to know where to find it. The speed sensor on a Jeep Yj is located on the transmission. To access it, you’ll need to remove the transmission pan.

Once you have the pan off, you should be able to see the speed sensor.

What are the Most Common Reasons Why a 1994 Jeep Wrangler’S Speedometer Might Not Be Working

If your 1994 Jeep Wrangler’s speedometer isn’t working, there are a few common reasons why. First, the speed sensor may be faulty or broken. This sensor is located on the transmission and measures the rotational speed of the driveshaft.

Second, the speedometer cable may be damaged or disconnected. This cable runs from the transmission to the gauge cluster and relays information about the vehicle’s speed. Finally, the gauge cluster itself may be malfunctioning.

If all else fails, you may need to replace this component entirely.

Conclusion

If your Jeep Wrangler’s speedometer isn’t working, there are a few things that could be causing the problem. First, check the fuse box under the hood to see if the fuse for the speedometer is blown. If it is, replace it with a new one.

Next, check the wiring harnesses going to and from the speedometer to make sure they’re all connected properly. Finally, if none of those things fix the problem, it could be an issue with the speed sensor or Speedo head itself.
